What is EBLI: Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction?

Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI) is an effective, efficient, systematic, research-based, revolutionary system of explicit literacy instruction, delivered through online, interactive training for classroom teachers and remediation educators.

EBLI aligns with the Common Core Standards and

Grades K-3 Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy.

ABOUT EBLI & HOW EBLI WORKS

In EBLI’s Online trainings, educators learn and teach EBLI’s systematic, evidence-aligned, integrative strategies and activities, providing them with a bridge from the Science of Reading theory to practice with students in classrooms. The EBLI training consists of theory, instruction, modeling, practice, lesson plans, support materials, coaching, and an extensive library of classroom instruction videos. There are also 3 EBLI apps available for supplemental student instruction. Explicit and applied instruction in the 5 Essential Components of Reading as well as spelling, writing, and handwriting are included in training and lessons.

EBLI lessons combine several Essential Components of Reading in each activity, allowing teachers to be efficient in their teaching and to free up instructional and planning time. Lessons begin with a strong focus on systematic, sequential, explicit instruction in decoding (Phonemic Awareness and Phonics) and accuracy. These skills and the information taught are then immediately applied through reading and writing.

Comprehension and quality writing are the goals of all that is taught in EBLI.

EBLI’s lessons are explicitly taught whole class, small group, or 1:1. The activities and strategies dovetail easily with any reading or writing program. Once students are familiar with the EBLI process, it is infused across the curriculum throughout the year, in all subjects that require reading and writing.

Students of all ages and ability levels benefit from EBLI.
